Uses of preposition "off"?

Hey, I am Arvind. I am bit confused here. So i am looking for a help from you guys. I am concerned about use of preposition "off" like "better off", "started off" "cut off" etc. I just want to know where & how to use this exactly. Any kind of help will be appreciated :) Thanks in advance.
