It is so important when getting a puupy you get it from a reputable breeder. Who has spent the time and money making sure the offspring they produce are good quality healthy puppies. You want to get from a breeder who cares about the breed they have and the puppies they produce. Reputable breeders show there dogs and make sure that the parent dogs have had the all important genitic health test done by the vet so they don't pass on serious health problems to the puppies. They are always KC registered. Ones that are not are poorly breed puppies where the breeders don''t care about the breed the parent dogs or the puppies they produce. all they care about is money. So many come from puppy farms where the breeding stock as that is all the dogs are seen as have litter after litter . They are keep in awful conditions in tiny firthy cages with little human contact. They just produce litter after litter till they can no longer and then they are either left to starve to death or dumped or simple just killed. The luck few find themselves in rescue but they are so many who don't. Most have awful medical problems which have never been treated. The puppies they produce are poorly breed and are often ill. If they do survive most are usually sickly dog . Puppy farms are cruel and cause nothing but suffering. Even if the pupy doesn' come from a puppy farm but a back yard breeder you will get a poorly breed puppy that may be cheap but in the long run could cost you alot more in both vet bills and heartache. Buying from a reputablle breed is alway the way to go. there care about there dogs and puppies . I am not sure what the average price is for them but your best bet is to look on the kennel club site who have lists of breeder with puppies and clubs. If you ring a breed club they can advice you on a fare price to pay and maybe able to help you find a good breeder.
