What major should I pursue? Involving writing, or English.?

This Fall I will be starting school (general education) at a local community college - I am planning on transferring as a Junior to a major University, but I'm unsure of which college I will attend. I have always had a passion for writing, but since I recently found out that Journalism is the number one most useless major, I've kind of taken that possibility out of the equation. While I obviously want to pursue something I love, I really need to be able to earn a decent living for myself. I know that I should really be speaking to a guidance counselor about this, and I will as soon as I get the chance, but I'd just like to hear some opinions. I want my career to definitely involve writing, I love traveling, I also love photography. Thank you for any suggestions (:
