Should I adpot this young dog?
Why was the dog returned? Does it get along with your dogs? (Check that out first). Do your really have the money and the time for a 6th dog? Each one will demand so much from you and as you know, while your love will encompass them all, your time will not. Can you take on this new dog without cheating the other dogs? Can you really afford this dog? What are the zone restrictions where you live? Is this an inside dog? Do you have time to house train? One of the ways people become hoarders are by being kind, sensitive and unable to say no even when they have reached their limit - and the very people who criticize them for it will be trying to get them to say yes the next time they have an inconvenient animal. What is your gut feeling telling you? But if, upon examination of your circumstances, you think you can take on this 6th dog, by all means do so. Or even better, take her on with the understanding you will be looking for a new home for her - and then do so. Bernese Mountain Dogs are wonderful dogs. If you can't take her on in good conscience, then know she is putting the same pressure on other people as well as you; the vet might be willing to take her to rehome her (or maybe not) and if she finds a shelter with a good adoption rate who works with rescues, even a full access shelter gives her a chance at a new home. Since she breeds them she should also be aware of possible rescues herself. This is a decision only you can make. But don't make it solely by this woman pushing you.
