New puppy, older dogs getting jealous!?

I totally disagree with separating them and you need to stop shouting at the older ones. All dogs have a pecking order and if you interfere you will make it 10 x worse. The only time you should step in is if they are drawling blood. Growling and snapping is their way of communicating many things to the new puppy. For instance if it is when the puppy is approaching the older one they are basically letting the pup know that he in their space and i dont want to be bothered. If the puppy gets out of line and plays to rough there is a good chance the older will pin him to the ground to let him know he is to rough. You have to let them work this out. They will not kill each other. I own 6 dogs and everytime i bring home a new one this is how they act. You have a higher chance of the older dogs really hurting the puppy if you are going to yell at them, give them a time out or spray them as they will become fed up. This is the time to let them figure out their status as a pack. They know its a puppy, they can smell that.
