Easy german grammar question?

How do I say "I gave the book to the man"? I'm not finding any useful explanations of German prepositions online. I'm guessing it's something like "Ich gab das Buch zu dem Mann". But I'm just guessing 'zu': I'm not confident on how that works yet.
